Anime Fix

This anime is set at the private high school Hakujō Academy in Japan. It centers around 2 main characters named Yuto Ayase who is a very unpopular and is thought to be gay since he never talks about girls. His excuse is that he has given up on them. The other main character is Haruka Nogizaka, who is rich, beautiful, and smart. Because of this she is unattainable as a girlfriend and is the girl idol of the school. She has been given the nicknames “Nuit Etoile” which means “The Silver Star of the Night” and “Lumière du Clavier” which means “The Shining Princess on the Piano”. One day Yuto’s best friend, Nobunaga Asakura, asks Yuto to return his late library book. When he returns it, Yuto finds out Haruka’s darkest secret. She is a huge overcrazed anime, manga, and otaku culture fan. Yuto then promises never to tell anyone her secret, and because of this the two become very close. Yuto also does his best to help Haruka cope with her secret hobby while falling in love with her.

I absolutely enjoyed this anime. I could watch it over 100 times before it got old on me. The story is perfect because a typical high school story with a little bit added. Every episode held me in and i couldnt get enough of it. I think the moral of this story is not to give up on anything which is how this story goes. Both have given up on something and over time they stop giving up on it. There wasnt much comedy and i find this was a pure romance. I cant wait until the second season.

Characters:

Yūto Ayase is the main character in this anime series. He is an ordinary student who attends the private high school Hakujō Academy and is in his second year of high school. One day his friend ask him to return a late library book and he stumble upon Haruka’s darkest secret. Following this incident he starts to grow closer to her and becomes her friend. This makes lots of students in his class jealous. Yūto lives with his parents and older sister Ruko, though his parents are always working and thus are generally absent from home. He likes to be left alone. He is pretty determind high school student. Even though he is getting closer to get Haruka he thinks that since he isnt rich he cannot be Haruka’s boyfriend.

Haruka Nogizaka is the other main character in this series. She is in Yuto’s class. She is idolized at school due to her beauty and intelligence, and is regarded as the school’s most unattainable girl. She is so popular in fact that she has been given the french nicknames “Nuit Étoile” and “Lumière du Clavier”. She is the #1 pianoist in the world having won all her international contests. She also has a gentle personality, is a natural airhead, and is quite clumsy. Her deep hidden secret is that she is a major otaku and loves anime and manga. In middle school, her secret was exposed and she received a certain amount of prejudice towards it which caused her to keep it a secret once she entered high school. When Yuto says he wont tell anyone she is relieved. She also comes from a rich family and privileged upbringing, so her interest in the otaku subculture is looked down upon due to her status in society, which is another reason why she keeps it a secret. Haruka once fled to a park after being scolded by her father, several years before. It was here that her anime obsession started when Yūto gave her the first issue of Innocent Smile. While being very talented, she cannot draw well, but does not realize it because she is too proud of it for anyone to tell her directly.
