This anime takes place in Kanagawa and Kamakura. The story is about a new form of species that are called Diclonius. They are humans that have horns on there head and have special telekentic arms called vectors that can reach from 3-25 meters and are used to kill humans they can also can manipulate objects. The Diclonius are made to destroy the human race. In the beginning of the series a Diclonius escapes from the facility that is capturing these special humans named Lucy. On her way out she is shot with a .50 caliber sniper rifle sending her to a bottom of a clif and ultimately giving her another personality known as Nyu. This story evolves around a boy named Kohta and his connnections with Diclonius. Long ago Lucy used to be a good friends of his but then he had to go back because summer vacation ended. But now Kohta is moving back to study in university with his cousin Yuka. After Lucy comes out of the sea from being shot Kohta takes her in though he doesnt remember her due to a choldhood trama. Just as the series has begun and Lucy is living with Kohta the facility sends out a Diclonius named Nana to either capture or kill Lucy.

Characters:

Lucy is around 18 years old and is a very special Diclonius. Lucy has a deep hatred for humans because of a trauma during her childhood. She was made fun of because of her horns which made her grow a dark personality. Then she met Kohta and became friends with him but after he left her hatred for humans grew. She has no empathy whatsoever and kills without second thoughts, and acts somewhat sadistically. But over the series she starts to show remorse.

Nyu is a personality that formed in Lucy when she was shot with a .50 caliber rifle in the side of the head at the beginning of the series. Nyu has a childlike personality and doesnt know that she has vectors and is a Diclonius. She is incapable of commiting violence. Whenever Nyu is hit in the head or confronted with violence she reverts into the sadistic Lucy.

Kohta is a 19 year old boy that moved back to Kanagawa to attend university with his cousin Yuka. Kohta has a pretty tramatic childhood, with him seeing the murder of his little sister and father. Over time though he has surpressed these memories and therefore has frogotten all about Lucy. Also due to losing his memories he has a soft spot for girls. He protects ones that in trouble like in the beginning of the series he takes in Lucy because he doesnt remember her. As the series progresses Kohta eventually falls in love with Lucy.

Yuka is Kohta’s cousin. She attends the same university and is the same age as him. Shge last saw Kohta when he was 10 just before his childhood trauma. She has a deep crush on Kohta and has since there childhood and is unconfortable with Lucy being around.

Nana is sent by the facility that was holding Lucy to kill or capture her. She is the only Diclonius that is obediant towards humans and doesnt hold a hatred towards them.

I enjoyed this anime because it has a strong story line with a different kind of race to destroy humans. Also all the forgiveness that takes place is amazing showing that other species have human emotions. The love triangle that happens in this is interesting to but i wish they wouldnt have used to cousin incest that happens in alot of other animes. Even the though the cousin incest is onesided. The art in the anime is a bit funny. When Lucy is in her Nyu personality she sorta looks like a chibi and all the blood that happens just look like scribbled circles. That is why i only gave it a 9/10. The sound is decent but i dont like the dub. The ending leaves you kind of thinking which is a pretty strong ending because it sort of lets you decide.
